Marilyn Monroe - My favourite Movie Icon

MAC Marilyn Monroe LE Release Fall 2012
I just came across MAC's announcement of their new Marilyn Monroe LE release which is planned for October in the US and Europe- YEAH. What a brilliant idea, have no clue why they didnt't came up with that before. I am a huge Marilyn fan she is probably the truest beauty icon I can think of. If you scroll down you can see a list with the names of the Collection. I know my bank account won't be too happy about my spendings in October, wah sooo excited, besides Diamonds mac products are a girl's best friend! :-D
As suspected, the collection consists of lots of red hues for lips and nails, beige and grey eyeshadows, subtle blushes and eyebrow products.
Reading those news I came up with the idea sharing my Marilyn Monroe shooting pics with you that were taken a couple years ago. It was a lot of fun taking those pics and I love sliping into different roles. Kinda interesting what clothes and make up can make a difference. I hope you like my interpretation of Marilyn's look. What did you love most about Marilyn?

Peplum

 Blouse: ZARA
Skirt:  ZARA
Heels: ZARA
Bag: Boutique in Salzburg

One of my favourite silhouettes for this season is  peplum which was a trend in the glamourus 40's. It adds a very feminine and sophisticated finish  to every outfit and accentuates curves. A statement piece that belongs to every woman's wardrobe! I decided to double layer my peplum with the blouse and skirt and liked the result alot. Do you adore peplum as much as I do? A big YES to curvy women and PEPLUM :-)

Bee

Shirt: H&M
Skirt: H&M
Sandals: ZARA
Clutch: H&M
Necklace: Bijoux Brigitt
Bracelet: Asos
Ring: Pilgrim

It was love at first sight when I spotted this black pleated leather skirt at H&M in the SALES section, WINNER. I love it when I purchase lovely and chic items for a low budget. I couldn't resist getting this yellow sheer Tee either, so in love with that flowing material, keeps you cool in the hot summer days.
Do you believe in zodiac signs? Yellow is the colour of leos and I couldn't agree more. Totally adore this colour as it complements my blonde leonine hair and skin tone well and underlines my blue eyes :-)
What about you, how do you feel when you get items on sale? Those purchases are probably my favourite as I award myself getting sth else in addition to what I saved :-D
On another note, I mean those zara heels are such a dream but seriously they are killing my feet, can't remember I ever had such uncomfortable heels in my entire life. For those ladies who possess them, do you have the same issue?

Strots- A Mixture of stripes and dots

Dress: Promode
Cardigan: Mango
Bag: Friis & Company
Wedges: Deichmann
Sheba Necklace: HRH Collection

Experimenting with contrasting prints is something I've always been attracted to but it's quite a challenge to find prints that can complement each other well.
Usually I don't mix a lot of prints together because it can look kinda twitchy . However, when I paired these two classic pieces together it showed me how fun it can be. I think the secret in achieving a successful pairing of prints is to have one print smaller in scale than the other. So I decided to use thick stripes with smaller polka dots in  my outfit.
I love that it gives my ensemble a unconventional yet chic look.
Not only will I love dots forever but stripes as well. What do you think of this mixture?

Puh, I really had a stressful business week and was travelling alot so I let my blog slide and couldn't read other blogs *Duh*.
I wore this outfit a month ago and didn't upload those pics yet. Pastel colours and flower prints are my favourite for the spring/summer as they totally lift up your mood. Do you have special colours or patterns that do the same with you?

Aztec Modern Interpretation
I decided to add a contemporary Aztec-inspired piece to my wardrobe, a fashion trend that is all about ethnic and tribal elements and not about whole looks where the origins of the look are downplayed! I have always been interested in travelling and diving into different cultures and drawing inspiration from them.
The Aztec look is the perfect Spring style, wearing a piece instantly gives you an uber-cool, street savvy, exotic style without making it look like you’ve tried too hard and instantly evokes dreams of far off vacation destinations.
Contemporary Aztec-inspired pieces use the elements while adding a new twist to keep things modern. I have seen diverse colour plattes that straggle from traditional Aztec shades, as well as an emphasis on geometry or embellishments within the fabric chosen.
If you are looking to make a statement, look for patterned skirts like I did and pair it with a casual white Tee and some nice pumps. I decided to leave my hair natural wavy to emphasize the exotic look

What are your thoughts on the Aztec-inspired trend?

PS: Anna-Lena and I stumbled over the antice flea market which is once a year along the promenade in Überlinge (lake constance) where I found this amazing mauve sequined clutch, so I incoperated it in my pics. Hope you enjoy!
